Subject: [perthbashi] Multicultural Youth Sports Project (MYSport)
Dear Community Members.
BAAWA is excited to announce its engagement and participation in the Multicultural Youth Sports Project (MYSport). MYSport is a sports-based youth project to be organised by Communicare aimed at promoting positive development for young people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) backgrounds. BAAWA, along with other partners of this initiative (WACA, Football West, Volleyball WA, OMI, Communicare etc) will steer the direction of this program.
Program Details.
The program is aimed at 12-17 year olds, will feature an array of different sports for participants and will be delivered by trained coaches. There will be a slightly separate program for males & females. Some of the sports that will feature are:
-Cricket, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Soccer, Basketball, Netball etc.
Another element of the program will aim to develop and empower the young participants to become more confident and more knowledgeable whilst in a safe and social environment. Following activities may also run alongside the sports:
-Leadership & team building exercises, Basic First Aid, Self Defence & Police Support etc.
Program Frequency and Timeline.
There will be two programs, both running once per week for 6 weeks.
First program: will start on Thursday 3rd August at Cannington Leisureplex.
Second program: will start in November in Gosnells (Date and Venue TBC).
Cost of Registration. FREE.
Pathway. This program will also try to appoint two school based trainees who will gain their Certificate II in Sport and Recreation.
We will let you know more details in coming days and will seek Expression of Interests (EOI) from interested participants in due course.
