Dear community members
On behalf of BAAWA, I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of you who attended and participated in BAAWA Bijoy Dibosh Cultural Program on 17th December. For the second time BAAWA organised visual art display. The theme was Bijoy Dibosh Celebration and harmony. We had over 30 pieces on display on the night.
The cultural program showcased the timeless songs that inspired the freedom fighters in 1971 and also some of the songs written to remember the martyrs afterwards. There were enchanting dance items and recitations in the first half of the show. In the second half of the night we had quiz contest for children focusing on knowledge and information about Bangladesh. 33 children participated in the contest which was captivating and exciting for one and all. We had Bir Uttom Masroor Ul Haq Siddiqi amongst us on the night, who shared his stories from 1971.
91 community members participated in the event and we were encouraged to see over 150 of our community members’ presence on the night. Certificates and medals were distributed on the night to quiz contest participants, art display participants and quiz contest winners. The special guest of the night was His Worship the Mayor Logan K. Howlett JP, Mayor of The City Of Cockburn who attended the event with his wife Patricia Howlett and thoroughly enjoyed the event.
I would like to thank BAAWA President Dr. Anisur Rahman and GS Abu Saeed Anwar for their support. Thank you to my team Zareen Lima and Nafisa Akhter for helping me with detailed planning and execution of the event. They contributed to back ground slides, script writing and event planning and presentation. Thanks are due to subcommittee members Simi Khan, Suchi Barua, Sithi Chakraborty and Tanzeeb Shahid Kaushik for their contribution and relentless support. Israt Jahan created the photo booth for the event which was appreciated by one and all. Many thanks to Zarin Zahid for her support in presenting the art display on the night. Words are never enough to thank Tasneemul Galib Amit who helped with all aspects of the show.
A program of this magnitude is never possible without dedicated community volunteers working tirelessly behind the scenes. Thanks to EC committee members and volunteers who helped set up the venue before the show, helped to set up the art display, food sell and venue pack up. Thanks are due to all the backstage volunteers, scorers for the quiz contest, EC members for your support and guidance and community members beyond our committee who extended their support before and after the event.
Thanks are due to all coordinators who have sacrificed their personal time to coordinate dance and music for the event. Thanks and congratulations to all the performers for their captivating performances. Thanks to the masters of ceremony and quiz master. Thanks to the light and sound operators Arman, Tasneemul Galib Amit and Nafisa Akhter. Thanks are due to parents who have made time in their busy schedule to take their children to rehearsals and provided their house as venues. A
