The BAAWA-KABWA Adopt-a-Spot program launch event was held yesterday with a clean up at Sutherlands Park, Huntingdale. 33 community members joined forces and removed 17 bags of litter from the environment with the Department of Water & Environmental Regulation representatives at the project launch. To those members who have attended, THANK YOU! Thanks so much for attending the program launch. We are overwhelmed with the words of encouragement and support received from the community re this BAAWA initiative. The attached photos says it all!
As you are aware, six BAAWA Groups across the metro area have adopted their own spots including Canning Vale, Rossmoyne, Willeton, Piara Waters, Wattle Grove and Wandi. They will look after them independently as part of the Keep Australia Beautiful Adopt-a-Spot Program. My heartfelt thanks to these Group Coordinators for volunteering for such a great cause:

We believe it is our responsibility to help the community to take part in social activities and contribute to the society which will inturn help them to integrate more smoothly. This also provides an opportunity for the community to realise and practice Australian values first hand.
May I please request you to join this anti-litter program with BAAWA! Please give us a shout on the ways to participate in this great initiative and we will be more than happy to include you. Be it a university group, neighbours in a suburb, a casual soccer club, even an individual with the desire to do something positive for the environment. If you are time poor and not sure about managing/coordinating a Group, just call a Group coordinator of your area and join a casual/one-off clean up with that Group. It is also a great way to involve the next generation Bangladeshi-Australians in social and community volunteering.
TEAM BAAWA, thanks for your support for delivering yet another successful BAAWA initiative. You showed that we are indeed bigger than our Dreams. Just if we want to. Thanks!
