Thank you so much, Nipu bhai, for your kind words. It was a nice experience working with you.
I would also like to thank Naweed bhai and rest of the BAAWA EC members, Cultural sub-committee members for their valuable support. Without you I couldn’t deliver this huge project. In saying that, it would be unfair if I don’t mention few names and share my experiences that I have working with this amazing team in the last 5 months.
(Please ignore below if it is irrelevant)
Dear all (children, adult performers, coordinators, volunteers and parents of all children, partners of all performers and the EC members),
‘Thank you’ will never be an enough word but there is no other word to express my ‘gratefulness’ to you. So a HUGE THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to all people who have given their 200% to make this show a memorable event. I must admit I had the privilege to work with you all this year, and have learnt so much.
I obviously visualised the show but without your dedication, hard work, commitment, time, my vision would not go anywhere. Shaouli and I were obviously the happiest person to see all of you smiling and celebrating after the show.
Everything that could possibly happen did happen before the show because it has been a long 5-months journey for all of us: injuries during rehearsals, meltdowns, frustrations, extreme joyous moments, parties in the rehearsals, birthday celebrations, uncertainties, death in the family but I hope you have enjoyed your time and had lots of fun and made new friends. That’s our ultimate goal… to create enthusiasm among our community members about our culture, to discover and showcase your hidden talents, to transmit our beautiful culture to our next generation, young Bangladeshis. Hope we have been able to achieve this to your satisfaction.
Of course, everyone couldn’t be involved and there are immensely talented performers are there eagerly waiting to perform. Our apology to those individuals but I can only say there is always a ‘next time’.
Anandadhara Team:
You were mind-blowing on stage. Such a graceful presentation. Hats off to your wonderful coordinator – Shyama and to all of you…. Brilliant performance.
“Shyama apu, it’s been fun working with you. I have gathered lots of good memories, chitchats with in last 3 months. Thanks a ton for everything.” – Prajna
“Ananyna has come up and will be on the stage today…. … Tomorrow is Sunday, and I’m sure my daughter will miss the way to Kardinya, but I would say phew! It is over from Bapi bhai!…. It is an excellent journey for the girls in the sense that girls get to interact with each
other, know each other well, most importantly share the values of the culture. Thanks for that….” – Anu Boudi.
Kolpolok team:
Kids, when I observed you copying others’ dances, when I heard many of you singing those Bengali rhymes, I felt satisfied. I felt our mission was accomplished. You were amazing on stage. The beautiful choreographies by your immensely talented and dedicated coordinators, Prajna and Miti, were soo successfully executed on stage… not by them but you have done it! We did not have to wait for anyone to get changed! Kudos to parents and all backstage helpers.
There were 48 children and 3 adult performers participated in this item – great team work leading by amazing Miti and Prajna.
“Hi Prajna and Miti, we highly appreciate your support and mentoring to our children to perform in this great show. All together it was a great show and it was successful mostly because of your contribution and dedication. God bless you both. Thanks Sjila & Ujjal”
“Dear Prajna, Tomake thanks bole shesh kora jabe na. I don’t know how you manage having such a young one and hours of rehearsal for months! You make me proud. Love you”
Thanks to Shaouli for wonderful concept and script for this amazing production “Kolpoloker Golpogantha” and preparing little Atoshi and her mother for acting on stage.
Shukhonogori team:
You showed what a team work is called, supporting each other continually on stage for 20 mins, remembering all your own steps. I was mesmerised to see how you acted on with some difficult Bengali voiceovers…. well done, kids. You all made us extremely proud.
“… The whole program was a grand success and especially the execution of Shukhonogori was a masterpiece….”
“Thank you Shormi Aunty, Shaouli Aunty and Bapi uncle for putting in so much time and effort to help us learn the dance Shukhonogori. Even though I was not in the dance at start, all of you still helped me learn the dance perfectly. Thank you again. I will make all of you
proud on the stage tonight. Love,” Maisara
We are Bangladeshi-Australian:
The singers did very, very well. Congratulations! Thanks should go to your coordinator: Tasneemul Galib Amit. The idea of the flag change was perfect with the theme of the show! Well done.
Prothom Boshonto:
I was unsure about this item, was extremely cautious but wanted to do something with boys and girls of your age group. Not only because I have been seeing Surjo going through his teen age but because this is a critical age for everyone. The way you outperformed all your
previous efforts on stage was amazing! The most rewarding moments for me personally when some of you shared your feelings in the group! Can’t help sharing some of those feelings that you shared with the group…. Priceless. Hope this will encourage others in the
community. Each one of you was jewel on the crown. Special thanks to the BOYS! Three of you were so friendly, understanding and humble! My blessing is for all of you, boys and girls.
“Thank you Bapi Uncle. I have enjoyed this journey very much.” – Naila
“Thanks you Bapi uncle. I have learnt so much from this experience and enjoyed every aspect of it.” – Shreya
“Thank you Bapi uncle. This has been a lovely experience where I got to learn a lot as well as meet new friends.” – Anisha
“Bapi and Tumpa, this was indeed a good journey for all kids. I was not quite sure how Maisha is going to cope with the rehearsal and her study. But in the end it turns out very good. … Maisha learnt how to balance the study with other work….” – Urmee Apa
“Thank you Bapi uncle. This has been an amazing experience for me. I enjoyed and appreciated every moment.” – Noshin
“… words cannot describe how thankful I am to have you as a guide through this incredible experience,… and also Shormi Aunty and Prajna Aunty… you both did such an amazing job in every single dance that you choreographed.” – Maisha
“Thank you so much Bapi uncle, Shaouli Aunty, Prajna Aunty and Shormi Aunty for putting so much effort into this concert. Everyone has put 100% into it but you guys put 200% and because of that, it gave me and my mum the motivation to travel the distance and practice every weekend. … We will do our best to make sure that all that effort wasn’t for waste and that this concert will be one of the best! Lots of love.” – Ariyana
Kate na Shomoy:
Thank you so much, Mohsin uncle and Borna for agreeing to sing this all-time favourite when I requested you.
Parineeta:
Parineeta was the first item that started its rehearsal. To all beautiful ladies, I was just looking at you from the control box…. You all were glowing, and I could see that you put your 100% effort on stage. You probably don’t know how beautifully you acted and created that
authentic ‘wedding environment’ on stage! Special thanks to Prajna, Prithula, Miti and Nupur. A huge thanks to Mashima for agreeing to be part of this beautiful item.
Kothay o Gaane:
I am truly grateful for the amount of time you spent for this item despite being so busy and the rehearsals on week nights. Thank you all. Thanks to all the musicians. Very well presented, Amit, Yasin, Tanmoy, Simi, Shaouli, Mithu, Sangita and Shohel. The sound was not its best but hope you would understand.
West meets East and Dhaliwood Team:
You were superb… a very, very high-standard, professional presentation. Truly mesmerising! Thanks to all the performers and coordinators – Prajna Roy, Shyama & Sindu.
70s’ party:
What can I say about you…. I would not be able to do what you did! When I started thinking that this item would not go ahead because no one had time to choreograph the dance part, Shormi step up. She had taken this dance and the item at another level. Then this became a history and a fun-filled memory . I was amazed at seeing your enthusiasm! All of you are so natural that you truly rocked the stage….
Arranged Marriage:
Extremely proud, Kallyan and Shormi – that’s all I can say. I know it’s not easy to perform, especially skit/drama when you need to remember your lyrics, when so many other responsibilities were lying on your shoulders! Great performance…. Don’t ever stop acting….:)
I got lot of very positive feedback from the viewers about the skits.
Manush and Ak akash:
“Kobita” is rarely considered a regular item in big concerts… at least my experience says that. But, I wanted to prove that wrong, and you supported me throughout…, and hopefully we have proved everybody wrong…. Awesome presentation, Manonita di, Biswojit da, Arif and Sangita.
Thanks to all group song singers for showing your dedication. Special thanks to Naznin
Aunty.
Backstage Volunteers:
You know what? I could only concentrate on light and sound and other technicalities because I did not have to worry about Backstage! I knew that I could trust you and you would do it! Shaouli told me how you supported each other and took turns when some of you were on stage to perform! I feel truly blessed, my friends.
Thanks to Kallyan, Arif, Roni, Anup, Pasha, Muammer, Romel, Sangita, Doyel, Shormi, Miti & Shaouli. Without your patience, cool head, sense of humour, physical and mental support, this program could not be executed.
Coordinators:
All my beautiful dance choreographers/coordinators, you made me extremely proud! I truly don’t have words to thank you enough, ladies. So, please forgive me…. Shormi, Prajna K, Miti, Shyama and
Prajna R, without you this project could not be finished. We only generated ideas but you gave the idea its form…. I was amazed at seeing how you worked so hard to execute the plan.
I have seen Prajna and Miti meeting on weeknights to think about the choreography that they were going to do in the weekend! Both of them have very young children! Thanks to their partners as well!
I have seen Shormi spending hours in searching for music for Shukhonogori, showing kids steps and moves so patiently and with a smiley face and then crash rehearsal during school holidays!
Shyama traveling to Prajna’s home to practice dance when her daughter is at child care!
Prajna Roy coming to our place to practice their dances in the week nights after work and then going back to work!
Thanks to Amit for coordinating that beautiful song item, and being part of this journey.
I have learnt so much from you! A successful program means a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of sacrifice of your family time …. You all were on the same boat with me. So, I feel extremely lucky….
My thanks as well as my apology to all of your partners.
You all are asset of our Bangladeshi community in Perth. Keep up your all good work.
On-screen Actors and VO artists:
Thanks heaps for your enthusiasm, and support whenever we asked you to come…
morning, night, evening!! Special thanks to Subah, our little Atashi. She is so natural and so
sincere. Bless you.
Teenage Atashi, Prithula and Adult Atashi, Sharika thanks to you, too. Arif and Romel, you were instrumental…. Had a lot of fun during shooting. Thanks for making the experience so enjoyable.
Parents of the kids:
Unbelievable support!
I saw one mother left a child at our place for rehearsal and stayed with the other child in car car as she was sleeping, it was a cold night in the middle of June.
Thank you so much.
Other support:
Special thanks to Naweed bhai, Muammer, Arif, Amit, Nipu bhai for the furniture that were used during the show
The EC Members:
My special thanks to Naweed bhai, Nipu bhai, Muzaffar bhai, Mohsin Uncle, Roni, … for their continuing moral and logistical support. Without you guys, we would not be able to execute this huge project.
Shormi and Kallyan , thank you so much for your tireless support. You guys are just amazing.
Last but not least, my deepest thanks go to my lovely family – Ononno, Surjo and Shaouli. Thank you for your patience, endless support and encouragements. Without your sacrifices and devotion to the community, I couldn’t have done this.
THANK YOU once again.
Best regards,
Bapi Mazhar
