Dear Community Members,Happy Victory Day to all of you!I hope you're all doing well in this hot weather. As you all know, BAAWA organized a cultural program on last Saturday to pay homage to our freedom fighters and the intellectuals who sacrificed their lives for Bangladesh in 1971.. I would like to thank each and everyone of you who attended the program, helped us organize the event and make it successful.Special thanks to our Assistant Cultural Secretary Nusrat Zareen Lima for planning and coordinating the cultural program. It was great to see our next generation taking active part in a lot of performances, ranging from dance, drama, story-telling to singing melodious patriotic songs. Lima was greatly assisted and guided by our Cultural Secretary Dr. Tanmoy Deb Nath – who was instrumental with his immaculate organizational skills to ensure the program runs smoothly. The cultural subcommittee members and EC members fully supportive and went above and beyond to present this show without any hiccup. Thank you!On the night, we started the event with 1 minute silence in the honor of our intellectuals to commemorate Shahid Buddhijibi Dibosh. Acting President, Mr. Wahid Khan Nipu welcomed everyone in his speech and then the cultural program started which showcased beautiful dance items, recitations, songs, short drama, and story telling. We then invited our very own Dr. Abul Hashem on stage to bid farewell and to honour him with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Freedom fighter Dr. Hashem shared his experience and memories of the liberation war with us. We then concluded the night's proceedings with the Bijoy Dibosh Soccer Tournament Award Ceremony. As always, events like this are only possible because we have selfless hardworking volunteers in our beautiful community. I, personally, thank each and everyone who helped us preparing the show, all the performers, MC, story-tellers, script writer, dance, drama and music coordinators, stage management and backstage and on-stage support volunteers, photographers, helpers, parents of the kids, families of the volunteers, rehearsal venue providers, everyone who helped us preparing the food, decorating the stage, organizing the sound and the venue, setting up BAAWA Corner, selling food, Cultural Subcommittee, BAAWA EC, Treasury team, BAAWA Sports and all those who helped us packing away after the show was over. THANK YOU!Our next big event is the BAAWA Cup 2020 – Inter-University T20 Cricket Tournament, which will start on 5th January.
