Description: *With widespread prevalence of depression, anxiety and suicide in the developed world in the 21st century*, sometimes we find ourselves also experiencing some sort of existential pain. This short talk will explore the Islamic spiritual tradition to glean some of the insights into the secret of happiness, peace and serenity.
*ABOUT THE SPEAKER*
*HAFEZ Dr Zohair Abdul-Rahman is born and raised in *Toronto Canada*. He completed his bachelors in life sciences with a minor in psychology, as well with a masters in the scientific method. Alongside his academic studies, he studied the sacred sciences with a number of scholars in his locality, *having memorized the Quran and earning ijazah in Aqeedah and Hadith*.
He writes for the *Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Resesrch*, focusing on integrating psychology, theology and spirituality to instil conviction and commitment to the fundamentals of our faith. He is currently studying medicine at the university of Queensland in Brisbane and publishes research in psychiatry, focusing on lifestyle factors that affect mental health.
