Few months ago, we approached Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI) to provide a profile of Bangladeshis living in WA based on the ABS Census 2016.
It is my pleasure to inform you that OMI has developed (with the help of Geografia) Search Diversity WA – an online tool which contains a profile of the Bangladeshi community in Western Australia (WA).
The link below will give you the web based materials on the Bangladeshi community in WA with an option to download the report either in word or pdf version:
https://geografia.com.au/dlgsc
Once you click it, you will see Birthplace on the top left hand corner. If you click on Birthplace, it will give a drop-down menu of ancestry, birthplace, language and religion, if you click on birthplace and search, you will find the alphabetical list of countries of birth. From there click on Bangladesh and if you click on Go to full page (on the right hand panel), you will get the full profile based on 2016 Census data. You can also get 2011 profile report by clicking on 2016 at the top right hand corner which provides drop down menu for 2011 Census data.
Please find attached a pdf document with the profile information of Bangladesh-born Western Australians based on ABS Census 2016.
Our heartfelt thanks to one of our community members, Dr Rita Afsar, Senior Strategy Planning and Research Officer, OMI for her hard work and time in developing the attached document for us and guide us through this wonderful online tool. We are indebted, Dr Rita Afsar, for your valuable contribution to the community.
I am sanguine that the Bangladeshi community in WA will find this online tool useful.
Warm regards
