Dear Community Members.
SHORT AND SWEET! LESS IS MORE!…that's how BAAWA CULTURE and BAAWA SPORTS delivered their first combo event of 2017-18!
Last Saturday, 16 December 2017, BAAWA celebrated the Victory Day of Bangladesh with a friendly soccer match followed by a cultural program 'Bijoy Amar Ohonkar'. While we celebrated, we also prayed for those who sacrificed and the future of Bangladesh so it goes from strength to strength. We celebrated the spirit, wore the color of Bangladesh, spread the vibe.
BAAWA SPORTS continued its excellent organizing and networking forte with the friendly match between BAAWA RED and BAAWA GREEN. The RED won 2-1 in the keenly contested match. Thanks to Mofizul Islam Bulbul for helping us with this event. Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam (Babu) and Mohammad Bari Roni – thanks! You two are taking BAAWA SPORTS to a different level!
The first cultural event by BAAWA CULTURE in 2017-18 was full of buzz, anticipation, respect and patriotism. Under the able leadership of Tanmoy Deb Nath (CS BAAWA), 'Bijoy Amar Ohongkar' was a tribute to the freedom fighters and people of Bangladesh.

One key planning parameter of this event was to encourage the participation of 2nd/3rd generation of Australian-Bangladeshis and infuse the rich and glorious history of our liberation war into the little minds. What better way to do it than integrating 'Patshala Bangla School (PBS)' into the mix? We are very proud of the marvelous performance of the PBS students for staging the short drama 'Joy Bangla'. The drama was developed, produced and directed by Sharmishtha Saha of PBS. Sharmishtha Saha – take a bow for your excellent direction and management of the busy adventurous little actors! Thanks to PBS, Biswojit Bose and Professor Abu Siddique for guidance, direction and support.
And Tanmoy Deb Nath, thanks for helping us have faith in beyond what we think we can do. My profound gratitude to you and your team for the flawless program. I am sanguine it will reach new heights in future days!
Thanks to each member of BAAWA EC for delivering yet another amazing BAAWA Experience. You showed that we are indeed bigger than our Dream. Just if we want to. Kudos!
And lastly, this to YOU Dear Perthbashi. Because of YOU such thing happened. Because of you we exist. Thanks so much for attending the event. BAAWA EC is collectively overwhelmed with the words of encouragement and support received from all present.
See you all on next BAAWA event on Saturday, 24 February 2018 at the Cockburn Youth Centre in BAAWA's celebration of International Mother Language Day 2018!
Warm regards
