Dear Community Members.
THANK YOU!
Thank you to come from all corners of WA to Edinburgh Oval South, Curtin University yesterday to welcome the Bengali New Year 1425!
The biggest and most popular event of Bangladeshis in WA, ‘BANGLAR MELA 1425’ was as bright and warm like the day itself. We had six hours of non-stop fun, rally, frolic, foods, interaction, amusements, songs, dance.……the list is never ending! The event echoed and reflected our community bondage, brotherhood, identity and cultural richness.
Our sincere thanks and gratitude to each of you for making the event a big success and memorable one.
As anyone can imagine, organising an event of this magnitude require extreme level of dedication, hard work, flexibility, determination, coordination, team spirit and PASSION. We are touched and moved by the support and wishes we received from the community leading up to and during the event.
A very special thanks to:
• All the performers, MCs, coordinators, choreographers of the Cultural Program ‘Ritu Baichitro ebong Grameen Bangla’ –conceptualised and beautifully executed by BAAWA Culture.

o Mehran – Boishakhi Handicrafts.
We are certain that this number will grow in coming days.
Dear Community Members, we all know and recognise that volunteer work in this busy and time poor world is very challenging and needs dedication. Dr Tanmoy Deb Nath (CS BAAWA), you have proved to be the epitome of extreme dedication, professionalism and sincerity. Take a bow Tanmoy for organising a flawless and mesmerising cultural program. It is hard work already, but being blessed with a son just a week before the largest community event and still be on the oval almost 24/7 for the last three days needs something special!
And TEAM BAAWA, Thank you for your contribution towards our community, to the cause we all are selflessly serving together. This shows why BAAWA is wowing everyone day in and day out. It is because of dedication of all members of TEAM BAAWA that are beyond words to describe. I feel blessed to be in their company. Let’s keep the flame going, BAAWA EC!
Dear all, we reckon two issues took a bit of shine off this wonderful event. Many community members parked their cars on the verge and oval even after repeated announcements and communication. And secondly, our volunteers picked up large amount of rubbish from the oval even though 30 bins were provided at all corners of the ground! It certainly does not go with our community’s ‘Keep Australia Beautiful’ initiative just a month back! We urge you to please support us in these two areas in future events.
Warm regards
Syed Muzaffar Ahmed
