Dear brothers and sisters,
Assalamu aliekum.
Koran and ramadan are interrelated. Koran was revealed in the month of ramadan.Huzur[s:] used to read Koran in the month of ramadan more than any other time. koran is being rehearsed in as many as 2500000 mosques accross the world during ramadan while hafezs are reciting them with most ferver and emotion in an approximate number of 500000 mosques in Bangladesh. It has been reported that hazrat zibril[a:]used to made rasulullah [s:] hear the whole Koran one time each year and in year of his [rasulullah[ s:] assending as an invited guest of Allah for the purpose of the ‘meraz’ zibril made rasulullah[s:] hear the Koran ‘ two times. Huzur[s] used to do ‘ itiqaf’ for the first and second ten days during ramadan but through his ‘ohi’ he was advised to do that for the last ten days of ramadan. However in the year of his death rasulullah[s:] accomplished twenty days ‘ itiqaf’.Sabira[r:] among the wives made a visit during ‘itiqaf’.’ Itiqaf’ is aimed at making relationship with Allah, obtaining the lailatul qadre [ blessed night] is also another aim.Atleast one person from each community should be deputed to itiqaf otherwise whole community would be blamed. This type of itiqaf is described as sunnate muakkadah farze kefaya. Itiqaf other than the time of ramadan is called mustahab itiqaf.
In the muslim world ramadan is observed in a befitting manner. In Qatar people fire canons at the advent of ramadan. In Tunisia they decorate inside and outside of their houses, illuminate mosques and minaras.Children make visit of one house to another chanting islamic songs, hamd, nath. In Egypt non muslims do not eat and drink in a public place as a mark of respect of ramadan. In Indonesia emploees get a bonus equal to one month’s pay during ramadan.Industry owners go their own village home for observing ramadan. In Iran situation is a bit different because people are mourning the death of Hazrat Ali[r:] who was stabbed by his enemies on 19 ramadan and died on 21 ramadan suffering injuries.People there observe ‘sab-e- kadre’ on 19,20, and 21 ramadan.
In early stage of islam there was provision for fasting for 3 days in a month but that was disbanded when fasting was made compulsory during second hizri.Huzur[s:] was quoted as saying Allah loved fasting of hazrat Daud[a:]who used to fast on each alternate day in a year[bukhari and muslim].Ancient christians were said to be fasting on wednesday ,friday and saturday just to overcome their crisis and difficulties that befallen them.Hazrat Musa[a:] did not take any food and drink for 40 days before obtaining the document ‘Taurat’ in tur mountain.Following Musa[a:] Jews thought to be better to keep fasting for 40 days.
However Koran is our life, fasting is part of life.If we read Koran on regular basis it will make safaya[recommendation]for us on the day of ‘ qiama’,sura mulk will advocate for forgiving our sins.
However i like to share the aove data that can help benefitting us in this dunia and akhera. We ask Allah for salvation from the chastisement of fire and drive us zannat. Ameen.
With regads,
Nazmul Ahsan.
