BAAWA will celebrate International Mother Language Day 2018 on Saturday, 24 February 2018 (6:30pm to 9.30pm) at Cockburn Youth Centre, 25 Wentworth Parade, Success WA 6164.
International Mother Language Day (IMLD) is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
First announced by UNESCO on 17 November 1999, it was formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages.
The date of observance, February 21st, was chosen to recognize Bangladesh’s Language Movement Day, which commemorates the Bengali Mother Language Movement of 1952.
The details of the Program will be circulated to you by BAAWA GS and CS later some time.
On behalf of the BAAWA EC, I cordially invite you all to Celebrate the Day and to pay the deepest homage to the Martyrs of our Great Mother Language Movement of February 21,1952
Warm regards
