Dear Perthbashi,
We have received further information from the Bangladesh High Commission Canberra in regards to the recent changes for MRP and NVR application process, as below:
MRP:
- Re-issue MRPs : In addition to requirements mentioned in https://www.bhcanberra.com/consular-services/passport/renewal-of-mrp, proof of applicant's residence in Australia will be required (any photo ID)
- New MRP: In addition to requirements mentioned in https://www.bhcanberra.com/consular-services/passport/new-mrp proof of applicant's residence in Australia will be required (any photo ID)
- However, for change of information (name change, parents name change and date of birth change) while renewing passport , 1. NID ( for adults) ; 2. Certificate of Public Examination or Birth registration ID; 3. A hand written application with a declaration that the applicant will be responsible case any legal complication arises in relation to this change will be required
Payment : Previous payments will be accepted (pay order/ EFT)
NVR: The High Commission is in the phase of discontinuation of handwritten No Visa Required endorsement at the camp. Therefore those who intend to receive NVR at the camp are requested to fill up the online form and send necessary papers as mentioned at https://www.bhcanberra.com/consular-services/bangladesh-visa/endorsement-for-nvr to consular.canberra@mofa.gov.bd so that the High Commission can process the electronic NVR beforehand and the applicants get affixed NVR stickers at their Australian/ New Zealand passports at the camp instead of handwritten NVR. This will significantly speed up the service delivery at the camp because the officials do not need to check papers and process NVR manually. Moreover, the applicants will receive NVR stickers without sending their passports to the High Commission. We are happy to note that we have received applications from 25 service seekers for affixing NVR stickers at the camp.
While the electronic NVR is strongly recommended, for the time being the Mission will also provide handwritten NVR at the camp. But eventually handwritten NVR will be completely discontinued as the immigration system of Bangladesh aims to move to digital platforms. Grateful if BAAWA could encourage the service seekers to apply online and receive electronic NVR at the camp.
