Dear members of Bangladesh community in AustraliaAs intimated earlier , the Australian authorities could not deliver their commitments on the illumination of historic John Gorton Building in Canberra for technical reasons yesterday.

You are aware that 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the bilateral relations between Australia and Bangladesh.The High Commission has planned to celebrate this occasion organising a couple of events throughout the year.
The High Commission proposed to the Australian authority for illuminating a few iconic structures with colours of Bangladesh flag on this occasion and pursued hard to realize the plan. As a unique gesture, Australian authorities agreed to illuminate John Gorton building at King Edward Terrace on Saturday, 26 March 2022 and National Carillon at Aspen Island on Sunday, 27 March 2022 in red and green from 2000 hrs in the evening to the next day dawn (till 0500 hrs).
As 26 March 2022 falls on the day to observe the earth hour, the lighting of John Gorton Building will remain switched off from 2030 hrs to 2130 hrs.
This lighting of John Gorton Building and National Carillion will be open for public viewing on 26 March and 27 March 2022 respectively.
You are requested to visit these sites and enjoy the lighting with your family, friends and acquaintances and contribute to propagating the message of friendship and partnership between Australia and Bangladesh.
