Front row (Left to right): Hasan Mahmud, Amin Mehraj Rhid, Swarup Afsar (C), Avishek Barua, Sayed Iftekhar, Ishraque Anjum
The tri-series was played between Royal Bengals WA, Perth Bengal Club and Bengal Warriors Inc. After a round robin stage, Perth Bengal Club and Royal Bengals WA locked horns at the Grand finals.
The summary of score and highlights are presented below:
The score line would suggest that a combination of weather, pressure of finals and more importantly, absence of key players played a crucial role as the 2 finalists battled it out in 41 degree heatwave. PBC batted first and managed to put a modest total of 73 on the board against some exceptionally planned & disciplined bowling from the Royals.
Saikat Mitra provided some resistance with a well-paced 28 and at one stage was looking on track for a big score. It took the eventual Man of the Match Naf Rasul to change the course of the game by removing Saikat first and then nabbing the scalp of Syed Russell, who is one of the well established batsmen of WA’s Bangladeshi community. The value of the wickets and trigger of collapse from that point earned Naf the Man of Grand finals.
Royals in reply cruised to victory with 9 wickets in hand and 13 overs to spare. Amin Mehraj Rhid & Avishek Barua put up an aggressive 60+ runs partnership in about 6 overs to help seal the championship. This communication recognizes the Man of the Match (Grand Finals), Man of the Series, Top 3 Batsmen and Top 3 Bowlers of the tournament.
Man of the Match for Grand Finals 2019: Naf A Rasul
Man of the series was awarded to Azam Abdullah Arman for his extraordinary innings that amassed 178 runs at a strike rate of 258. Arman also has 2 wickets to his name.
