Dear Community Members.
BAAWA is excited to announce that it has joined hands with the Department of Water and Environment Regulation (DW&ER) to take part in the Department’s Adopt-a-Spot program.
Adopt-a-spot program is an anti-litter campaign of DW&ER where participants ‘adopt’ a site for at least two years, do three to four clean-ups per year as a minimum and submit (online) a clean-up report after each clean-up. There is no cost to join and DW&ER provides the participants with tools, support and an adoption certificate to acknowledge their commitment.
As a community participant of this anti-litter program, BAAWA will undertake coordinated litter clean-ups of designated sites in various suburbs. We are starting this program initially with six sites but are sanguine that this number will increase in future. A warm thanks to the following Group Coordinators who put their hands up to roll out this BAAWA-DW&ER project:

May I please request you to join this anti-litter program with BAAWA and say ‘we care’! Please give us a shout on the ways to participate in this great initiative and we will be more than happy to include you. Be it a university group, neighbours in a suburb, a casual soccer club, even an individual with the desire to do something positive for the environment. If you are time poor and not sure about managing/coordinating a Group, just call a Group coordinator and join a casual/one-off clean up with that Group. It is also a great way to involve the next generation Bangladeshi-Australians in social and community volunteering,
This BAAWA-DW&ER project is planned to be launched with a one big clean-up on Sunday, 18 March 2018 from 8.30am, Venue: TBC where all six Groups will participate in an hour clean-up followed by some light refreshments. DW&ER will arrange appropriate media attention to promote involvement and social commitment of the Bangladeshi Community of WA and encourage other community organisations to do the same. Please join with your friends and families in this project kick-off.
Join this great initiative to show your support for our environment!
