Subject: [BAAWA Members] Heartiest Congratulations to Sabbir Hussain for successful trekking to Mount Everest Base Camp!Dear allEx BAAWA President and GS, our evergreen Sabbir bhai has added another feather in his cap! This time he scaled his way to the base camp of Mount Everest! His timing to do this could not have been better……..on Victory Day of Bangladesh! In his own words:
“Yesterday at 1:30 pm local time, I along with 8 of our group members, 2 Sherpa guides and 3 porters reached Mt. Everest base camp. We spent over an hour celebrating our success, taking photographs, checking the trail of the mountaineers used to climb Everest. We then trekked back to reach Kalapather (altitude around 5600m) to have panoramic views of Himalayan region and watch the sunset over Everest! That was simply an out of the world experience! This once-in-a-lifetime journey took my body to a new level especially at this age! In 8 days, we trekked over 65km to reach an altitude of 5600m. There were two free days to get used to of the altitude but the other six days, we were trekking over 10k a day climbing up tackling the thin air! The thing that mostly bothered me on this whole journey was the biting cold (at night, temperatures dipped below minus 15 degree celsius)! The teahouse accommodations on the way were very basic, no heating in the room, common areas sometimes have log fire but mostly occupied by locals! Toilets were the most disgusting thing you can ever imagine but that’s what you expect in these most remotest and almost inaccessible parts of the world!
Now it’s time to descent, I meant to reach Perth on 22nd, will let you know once I arrive home!”
